Pamela Patterson-Ward was seemingly born with skates on. She had her first solo as a figure skater at the tender age of 4 and attended her first hockey school with Team Canada’s Captain Caissie Campbell at age 5.

By the time she was in middle school, she had to choose which rink she would play on, and of course, Hockey is her favorite sport.

Pamela played on the girls’ team at James M Hill, while at the same time, playing on the boys’ Triple-A circuit where she has the distinction of being the first female ever to score in a provincial game.

By grade 12 she had been recruited to attend Warner Hockey School in Alberta where she was co-captain. And then returned home at the end of the season to finish her schooling and graduate.

Pamela went on to Ohio State University to play with the Buckeyes for a year, then switched schools. She played for the University of Maine in Orono until she finished her Master’s program; graduating at the top of her class.

She finished her playing career in a women’s league in Alberta.

Pamela is also a force in the basketball, ringette, track, and field hockey field. And somewhere in her free time has managed to run several marathons including one in Rome.

Presently, she and her husband Joel coach hockey in Lower Onslow Nova Scotia, while raising their three children.

Pamela Patterson-Ward, with her impressive athletic resume, is a worthy inductee to the Miramichi Sports Wall of Fame.
